Native American Latte Turtle

Halloween '12 couldn't have been more fun.. bribed with candy, Leo stayed in his foam coffee cup the entire night.. and the kids of the neighborhood had a sugar high blast of a time

Halloween '11

Sweet times to kick off the day at the Village Halloween parade... C with his little buddy, TC (he remembers everyone's costumes and loves talking about it... ("wasn't TC CUTE as a baby penguin?? Bryn's hula girl was so great...") and a great sunny Halloween day followed by the fog rolling in just in time to trick or treat our new hood. Tons of awesome homemade costumes.. Finn's "Lightning Mc Queen" was so great.. I really need to step up my hand crafting! If Halloween is any indication, I am excited to see all of the Grizwold-esque Christmas decor on our block.

sometimes a little face paint goes a long way, as far as 'costumes' are concerned for Jbird. She was a "dead skateboarder"... and this is not the first time a skateboard has been involved in the costume.. when in doubt, add wheels!

Pumpkin time

Tracy and the Heits.. (Nice shades, C.)..also... there's something about the distracting sign in back of them... I guess they really are trying to draw people in from the roadside.. The farm stand sells melons, too.

Halloween weekend

A fun filled weekend kicked off by Cam deciding he didn't want to be any of the costumes he already had, rather a pirate.. oui, oui... I do enjoy the matching red stripes!
Emma is too cute to be a devil, so she wore wings and a halo and was half angel, too..
Olivia was snow to go with her brother, baby Jack, the penguin...
Twinners, of course! even enjoying the same treat, crossed ankles post trick or treat..
We had no trouble finding Waldo... hillarious.
Townsend is ready for ANY action with knee pads.

Not sure why the crazy vampire is ruining my laying out time.. jeez. Can't a girl get a tan around here??
Cute group!.. and scary Jake.. so much Star Wars in the hood..
gross, Justin.

serious.

The quest continues...

More pumpkin patching out in Temecula (can you tell by the rosy cheeks how hot it was?? Much better than the rain, don't get me wrong.. but a little hard to feel "fallish") with the fam.

Fall kick off

Padres were out, Chargers are in... it was the end of a fall-feeling weekend... and after heading to the beach for a quick surf (and realizing that we had no suits and it was windy and cold), turning back and deciding maybe we'd go for a bowl(then to find that it was league night)... we finally landed at the pop-up p-patch-cum-christmas tree lot (next month) which was just getting groovy...

Creatures of the night

We can never have enough of our nephew (cousin) Townsend... the boys have secret code talk and have such a blast together. Hysterical/ adorable. And binky-billy-bob-teeth are right up there with baby wigs as one of my favorite things.

T-REX...unzipped (kind of like.... unplugged)

A lot to hold.. including a flash light... probably more of a hit than the candy.

no night at Nana and Poppi's without Pacino getting in on the act... even decked out in his "clown" costume.

Hallow's eve (and day) Highlights

Another awesome weather day in California.. Really something amazing to be able to wear short sleeves as part of the costume.. with no turtle neck under, like the Halloweens of yore in Portland... need to find a photo of hula girl, age 4, red t-neck under coconut bra top.....anyway!
J was so nice to share the coveted whistle with her bro. Jadyn: the BLIND referee.. .get it, like those refs that the dads yell at when watching sports?? "What?!! are you BLIND, REF??" haa! We could barely stifle our laughter when she told us this plan... of course the blind ref knows how to rip-stick.. and Campbell refused to wear the adorable dalmation, Jadyn's horse AND the frog from Heit costume archive ... also refuses to take off the Charg-awh's jersey.. cries when it's dirty... thus, born the 09 costume.. worn for 2 days straight.. and at least I got to include (white) leggings.
two dads, one stroller. um.

we love wigs. Especially pint sized. Baby Belle was awesome. I wanted my little Charger to have an afro, but Justin drew the line.. Campbell wouldn't even keep the black stuff on his cheeks... I have nightmares of Power Rangers and GI Joe in the future...

all costumes include a wheeled mode of transport, natch..
breakfast of mini champs... just the cream cheese. jeez. one of these days, he'll eat something more than one bite..

Heit babies post 'carving party'..
Oh, how I wish the artsy, action shot photos would have turned out from carving...the (not about to scoop out or actually carve a pumpkin.. just "art direct" )Pumpkin King... not necessarily Jack Skellington, but ..
