Happy Birthday to our favorite Olympic hopeful

We were all pretty obsessed with the Summer Olympics here chez Heit.. so Campbell thought an after school 'lympic theme would be apropos for his big 5th. Lots of games were planned and even Jadyn's big kid neighborhood friends donned their leotards and did some gymnastic exhibitions.. everyone came in patriotic / athletic garb and was ready to play... however, after one relay race, all jumped in the pool to beat the heat and that's where all the partying went down..

Jbird researched and baked/ decorated this cake for her brother single-handedly!!! Huge hit!

Swim

Campbell has a renewed love of swimming (after a traumatic swim school last year and a summer with no sun/ swimming.. ) he's been in the ocean, on the surfboard and loving his new swim school at the Y... and LOOOOVVVING his (loose) speedos and his robe (thanks, NanaB). Evidently all little "pikes" got the memo about garish printed terry robes as de rigeur for apres lessons attire.

We love the desert...so close, yet a great getaway. Fun spent with Justin's siblings to celebrate Jeremy's bday.

Swim school grad!

Finally, after 5 years, Jbird completed her Water Wise swim school and earned the coveted (spinner) trophy. The things that motivate when it comes from someone other than a parent... Can't wait for the next swimming and surfing adventures for this big fish.

All we've ever needed was a 5 dollar wading pool..

Sunny Thanksgiving

A great change of pace as we headed out to "gramma's" for Txgiving in Palm Desert. It was so much fun to hang by the pool before / during/ after eating and drinking. Loads of great memories for us out there.

Ready for lessons.

I guess we should take a hint as Campbell is water baby like his big sis. Take these as the fast action shots that they are... we bust him putting on Jadyn's goggles and slithering down the stairs yelling, "bye!! see ya!! POOL!!!" and..we started lessons this week. Now, no bath is spared from some practice time. LOVE the "speedo" water diaps. (luckily, buddy, Kai is in the same class...and evidently the drinking fountain is almost as exciting as the payphone!)
