Wow, it's already been four years since that fateful April Fools day when the stars aligned. Now a proud, strong, athletic kindergartner, Jadyn has grown up and taught both her dad and me so much...I could go on mushing forever. The birthday week kicked off on her actual b-day, 4/14 and the grand finale was the soccer show-down at the park, yesterday. What an overload of excitement! Three legged races, (kudos to the dads for organizing soccer "games") face painting (thanks 'auntie' Stef-nee), pinata (a must... I remember leaving a birthday party with Jadyn last year.. one of her friends was turning 5.. we were in the car on the ride home and she says to me, "Poor thing, she didn't even have a 'pin-ah-tah'.. it wasn't a real birthday party".. and of course the soccer-ball shaped cake (the dome pan she made me buy off the infomercial so she could have a baseball cake for birthday number 5) What a lucky girl, as presents littered the whole house, the likes of Christmas morning.
Tid bits about the uniform devised for this year's party.. you see, the headband is her "soccer hair".. she dons this get-up before every game (oh ya, Pee-Wee Soccer alum, thus the "golden metal" she insisted on wearing to show-off to the posse).. and she also wanted to make a "team shirt".... with her number, ya, 6, on the back.
So much fun to see all of our friends' children growing up.. everyone going their own ways, to different schools, different activities, but coming together for birthdays and celebrations, and having fun, playing like they see one another everyday... and for us "grown-ups" (we are?), too. The occasions to get together with our friends.. and our families.. become fewer and farther between as we all "grow up" have children and jobs and the whole kit-n-caboodle. It is so awesome to have everyone together, even if just for a few hours in the park.

i can't believe i missed it. could it have matched the fun that was had on sylvia street the barn yard cuties year? age 4 i think???
well, there was no "Misty" the pony...and no popcorn machine (who would have manned it?) but definitely some hillarity ensued at the mud-bog three-legged race. We missed you, Jdiggity!
