Another lesson taught by toddler-to-adult: Friendships are formed with the heart. Anyone who knows these little ladies watched it with their own eyes. They formed a friendship when they barely had vocabularies, at age 3. And it wasn't the type of thing where they were in preschool together, or that their parents were all friends and forced them to be in the same place at the same time.. nope. They met by chance and ever since that day, have proved to us all that children make up their own minds... about everything. They are their own little personalities, and true friendships are forever. Watching Jbird and Emma, or even just listening to one of them speak of the other, it is like grown women... you know, your true friends. The ones you could not see for a year , and jump back into the same conversation you left off last time you saw or spoke to one another. Soul sisters, is how I refer to mine.
While with a group of "mom" buds yesterday we all expressed how we want that same type of friendship for our little girls... the kind of thing that they'll remember their silly swim cap they had to wear at age 6, or their soccer birthday (she'd better remember these birthday parties) when they're in highschool or college, or mommies (or stepmommies) themselves. I am sure everyone just wants the best for their children, whatever that means to them. And as I'm learning, sometimes it's frustrating to watch them learn on their own and figure things out on their own timeline.. one more way in which I'm hearing my own mom in the back of my head "you'll see when you're the mom..."
